Make Apple, Peach & Plum Blossoms
The Flower Pro Blossom Mould is a versatile tool that can be used to create a variety of realistic and beautiful blossoms, including apple, peach, plum, and cherry. This video tutorial guides you through the steps to make your own, from using the mould to adding colour and final assembly of floral decorations for cakes.
To make an Apple Blossom start with the centre. Make stamens using white or ivory stamens, using half width light green tape. Dust the stamen thread with Lime Green, brush confectioners glaze on the stamen tips and dip into yellow pollen. For the flower insert a white ball of paste into the apple and plum blossom mould cavity. Flex the mould to remove. Soften all around petals on 'hat' side using a companion tool. Once dry colour with cosmos food safe dust around the petal edges, front and back. Dust Light Apple at the base of the petals and bottom one-third of flowers. Assemble then steam flowers to fix colours.
For the Plum Blossom centre create the stamens using white or ivory fine silk stamens and make 15mm long. Curl inward with tweezers. Dust American Beauty, glaze the tips and dip into pollen. When making the flower take a no.6 large size ball of paste and use the apple and plum blossom cavity. Flex the mould to release and soften the edge using the ball end of the Companion Tool. Brush a little egg white around the base of the stamens and thread stamens to sit into the centre of the flower. Shape and trim at the base then hang upside down to dry. To colour use aubergine, fuchsia, prairie green food safe dusts. Assemble, then steam flowers and buds.
Make the Peach Blossom in the same way as the plum blossom, but dust Daffodil Yellow in the centre of the stamens. Flower: As plum, but use a no.7 small ball of paste and the peach blossom mould cavity. Do not vein the back at this stage. Once removed from mould, place on the green side of a mini pad and widen the petals. Press the Blossoms Veiner on top, soften the petal edge on the hat side, and continue as plum blossom. Once dry add the calyx. To colour use magenta, prairie green and light apple food safe dusts. Assemble, then steam flowers and buds.
The final arrangements can be used to enhance a variety of decorative items, from cakes to home décor.
