This video guide provides a detailed process for crafting realistic cherry blossoms from flower paste.
Start by conditioning the paste, then divide it into twelve equal parts for the flowers. Press these pieces into a mould, ensuring the paste takes the shape without filling the mould completely. Remove each piece gently, retaining its shape. The buds follow the same basic moulding process,
For the leaves, repeat a similar process, but with a different colour paste. As the shape of leaves varies, use a tool to create realistic indentations.
Next, prepare the calyx by pressing flower paste onto the base of each flower. Apply the calyx using a cosmetic sponge or fingers to maintain a tapered appearance.
Continue with the buds by attaching a small calyx to each one, using egg white as a binding agent. Adjust the size of the calyx according to the bud size. This creates a more natural appearance, similar to how buds look in nature.
Ensure to take care when attaching the flowers and buds to the wire. Dip the wire in edible glue and insert it carefully into each piece. Allow the glue to dry completely to ensure a secure connection.
Finally, prepare a display or cake for the final arrangement. Make sure to plan ahead, taking into consideration the size and weight of the flowers and leaves. Use floral tape to attach the wired blossom components to the main stem, and maintain balance in the arrangement
Through this process, one can create a stunning cherry blossom display, perfect for any occasion.
