To begin, the five cavity mould is used to create the buds. This mould has five sections of varying sizes, and for this project, the large cavity is used. A number five size ball of paste is required. This paste is then conditioned and shaped into a small sausage. A little corn starch or cornflour is applied before placing the paste into the large cavity of the mould.

The paste is pushed into the mould, filling it with a little extra. A ball tool is used to press the paste into the mold. A 28 gauge white wire is prepared by brushing some egg white onto the end. This wire is then threaded into the bud and flexed into the mold. This process creates a bud with five sections.

The bud is then stretched to create a long bud, approximately 40mm length. A needle tool is used to extend the lines on the top of the bud, dividing it into five sections.

The jasmine flower is created in a similar manner to the bud. A small number six size ball of paste is shaped into a long, skinny, baseball bat shape, approximately 35mm in length. A five petal umbrella tool is used to create five lines on the paste, which are then cut with scissors to create five petals. The paste is then placed into the mould and pressed in. A Dresden tool is used to fill the petal of the mould with the paste.

The flower is then removed from the mould. A 28 gauge white wire with a little hook on the end is prepared by brushing a little egg white onto it. This wire is threaded down through the middle of the flower. The paste at the bottom of the flower is then moulded down the wire until it reaches approximately 40mm in length.

The calyx of the jasmine is created using a small jasmine calyx cutter. Green paste is rolled out to number five on a pasta machine, and then cut out using the cutter. The cut out calyx is then divided into five small pieces using a knife. Each piece is then attached to the bottom of the flower or the flower bud, moulding it around the back.

Once the calyx is dry, the flowers are assembled into a group. A stronger wire, either 22 gauge or 20 gauge, is used depending on the size of the spray of flowers being created.

The jasmine is then coloured using pearl dust and a little bit of pale green at the base. The leaves are coloured with a little bit of lime green. The leaves can then be finished off with either some spray lacquer or some leaf glaze.
