Welcome to our crafting journey into the world of Asian florals, starting with the classic Camellia, an iconic flower known for its stunning variety of colours and forms. In this tutorial, we will focus on creating a vibrant red Camellia that will beautifully complement other elements like Plum blossoms, Bamboo, and green Japanese Maple in your Asian-inspired arrangement.

Creating the Flower Centre:

• Preparation: Start by wrapping dark yellow sewing thread around the end of the Flower Pro Flexi Scraper 100 times, securing it with a 28 gauge white wire to form a stamen base. Incorporate a 20 gauge wire, securing everything with light green floral tape to create a sturdy centre.
• Finishing Touches: Dip the stamen tips into confectioners glaze and then into yellow pollen, using a cocktail stick to prevent clumping. This adds realism and texture to your Camellia’s heart.

Creating the Flower Center:

• Preparation: Divide 60g of red flower paste into sections. Attach a small ball to the base of the collar with egg white, moulding it around the base to start forming the petal foundation.
• Petal Creation: Use a pasta machine to thin out the paste, then cut with a 70mm blossom cutter. Enhance the petal shapes on a veining mat and thin out the edges for a delicate look. Attach each petal around the stamen base, spiralling outward to mimic natural growth.
• Drying : Hang the petals upside down to dry, ensuring they maintain their curved form to encapsulate the flower centre beautifully.

Final Assembly: Once all parts are dried and the centre is secure, assemble the petals layer by layer around the centre, using floral tape to hold each in place. Finish by dusting with vibrant colours to bring your Camellia to life, ready to shine in any Asian floral arrangement or as a standalone piece in your craft projects.
