This video provides a walkthrough on how to create a lifelike bouvardia for cake decorating using the Katy Sue Designs Flower Pro Ultimate Filler Flower Mould. The bouvardia is a four-petal flower, often used in bridal arrangements, and comes in a variety of colours including white, various shades of pink, reds, and yellows. The process involves the preparation of wires, the creation of buds and flowers, assembly and colouring.

To create the buds, begin by preparing 28-gauge white wires. Make a small hook at the end of each wire. The bud is made freehand, using a size four piece of paste. Condition the paste and shape it into a carrot shape, approximately 12mm long. Apply egg white onto the hook of the wire and push it into the thin end of the paste. Stretch the paste down to create a long, tubular shape, approximately 35mmers long.

For the flower, start with a number six regular-sized piece of paste. Shape it into a long carrot or baseball bat shape, approximately 32mm long. Use a needle tool to open up a hole in the middle of the paste. Divide the paste into four sections using a pair of scissors. Lightly pinch the sections to create a mini version of the flower. Place the shaped paste into the mould and press it in using a Dresden tool. Remove from mould and stretch the petals a bit to give the characteristic shape of the bouvardia. Apply a bit of egg white onto a hooked wire and thread it through the center of the flower. Stretch the paste down to create a long, flat back. If there is excess paste, trim it off with scissors.

Once the flowers and buds have dried for about an hour to 90 minutes, roll out some green gum paste or petal paste. Cut out a daisy shape using a medium-sized daisy cutter. Cut each of the eight daisy petals into sets of two. Cut each of the two-petal parts in half again to create four tiny 'fingers'. Attach the cut paste to the bottom of the flower, creating a four-petal calyx.

For colouring, once the paste has dried, use pearl dust and brush it all over the white flower. Use some soft green dust around the base of the calyx. For a darker green, use foliage green dust at the very bottom where the calyx meets the stem.

 The bouvardia is a beautiful flower that can be used in small groups or as a filler flower with other floral arrangements for cakes.
