From traditional to contemporary themes, sugar roses are a staple of wedding cake decoration. Create delicate roses detailed with petal striations with the Flower Pro Ultimate Petal Veiner, serrated leaves with the Multi Leaf Veiner and Leaf Cutters, and even thorns with the Rose Cones & Thorns Mould. This spectacular gilded cake by Veronica Seta combines pretty pink roses with orchids, succulents, eucalyptus and conifers, achieving a modern elegant look.
Anemones suit contemporary floral themes in muted tones. With their variety of colours and romantic links to Greek mythology, they have become a popular choice for wedding bouquets and cakes in recent years. Chrissie Boon created this amazing anemone cake using the Flower Pro Poppy Mould, the dark contrasting centres adding a contemporary feel.
Colour and contrast will be a big feature of this year's summer cakes. Go bold with Viva Magenta – Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2023 – like this striking orchid cake. Lareefa Ghazaly has used the Flower Pro Ultimate Orchids Moulds & Veiner Set to create delicate exotic florals against a vibrant base colour.
For destination weddings, create beach vibes with ocean colours and in-vogue succulents made using the Flower Pro Ultimate Succulents Mould as on Dawn Dryburgh's marbled cake. Dawn has also embraced the dried flower trend with these seed heads made using the Flower Pro Poppy Mould.
From rich jewel tones to natural rustic elements, autumn wedding cakes are full of warmth. Go for grandeur, like this peacock cake by Jo Wieneke, using an array of Flower Pro moulds in seasonal hues – even the tail is made using the Flower Pro Lily Mould & Veiner!
Opt for air drying clay which can last for years to come as a keepsake and can also be less prone to breakage, like this beautiful example by Claire Boyd. Dummy cakes are also a great option if you'd rather keep your wedding cake intact! They can be decorated in either sugar or air drying clay, look just the same, and can be on display for the entire day!
Silver and grey provide the perfect frosted colours for wedding cakes, lifted by leafy greens and blues. The Flower Pro Wedding Foliage Mould creates six types of beautiful leaves including dusty miller and ruscus, as shown on this stunning winter florals wedding cake by Susan Clippinger.
Also included on the Flower Pro Wedding Foliage Mould are three styles of eucalyptus – THE plant trend that will continue to adorn wedding cakes this year, like this showstopping cake by Veronica Seta which also features Brassia orchids and roses, all created with Flower Pro Moulds.
Lorna Samson has tapped into another key wedding trend: the tree stump cake. Lorna has used the Flower Pro Large Log Slice Veiner to apply the rings to the top of the lower tier and the Katy Sue Tree Bark Mould to wrap texture around. She's used winter themed moulds to complete the look, but this type of cake could also be styled for weddings all year round using Flower Pro.
