Creating the Bark effect
Emma chose the white Hearty air drying modelling clay in her tutorial and used brown acrylic paint to create the bark colour of her character pot. However, you can make the tutorial even easier by opting for the dark brown modelling clay, which omits the need to use any paint.
To recreate Emma's adorable character plant pot
all you need is:
- A Plant Pot
- Teddy Bear Eyes
- Heart Clay
- Tree Bark Mould
- Acrylic Paint (optional)
"Whilst I love the plain white version of this cake, I also dusted the moulds with old luster dust to really pick out the detail." - Dawn
Make sure to build up depth with the clay at the front of the plant pot to ensure there is enough room to push the eyes and carve the mouth.
