Creating realistic and beautiful sugar foliage can elevate the aesthetic of any wedding cake, adding a touch of nature's elegance. This guide provides detailed instructions on how to craft three types of eucalyptus foliage: Baby Blue, Silver Dollar, and Seeded Eucalyptus. Each variety has its unique charm and can be used individually or combined for a stunning effect.
Baby Blue Eucalyptus is a popular choice for wedding cakes due to its delicate and distinctive appearance. To create this foliage, start by preparing the eucalyptus dust and paste. Use the Flower Pro Eucalyptus Leaf Veiner to imprint the leaf pattern onto the paste. After shaping and veining the leaves, insert wires for support and let them dry. Once dry, dust the leaves with the eucalyptus dust and add a touch of daffodil yellow at the base. Finally, apply a pale chocolate colour to the stems and steam the leaves to set the colour.
Silver Dollar Eucalyptus is known for its round leaves and silvery-green colour. The process of creating this foliage is similar to that of the Baby Blue, but with a few key differences. The leaves are rounder and larger, and the colour is a lighter, more silvery green. After shaping, veining, and wiring the leaves, let them dry. Dust the leaves with a lighter shade of eucalyptus dust and add a touch of daffodil yellow at the base. Apply a pale chocolate colour to the stems and steam the leaves to set the colour.
Seeded Eucalyptus is a unique variety that features clusters of seeds along with the leaves. The process of creating this foliage involves an additional step of creating the seeds. After shaping, veining, and wiring the leaves, create the seeds using a small amount of paste and attach them to the wires. Let the leaves and seeds dry, then dust them with eucalyptus dust. Add a touch of daffodil yellow at the base of the leaves and a pale chocolate colour to the stems. Steam the leaves and seeds to set the colour.
