International Women's Day 2023

Katy Sue started life 30 years ago by mum and daughter team, Doreen Thompson and Sue Balfour, and as a female founded company, this International Women's Day, our CEO Sue Balfour has recorded this message of thanks and appreciation to all our Katy Sue supporters, who've helped us become the creative company we are today.

Katy Sue origins

Sue and her mum Doreen made beautiful miniature porcelain dolls which quickly became hugely popular with collectors around the world. Making the leap from a kitchen table to business premises, and several changes in direction over the years, Katy Sue is now a leading UK craft product designer, manufacturer and retailer.

Nice to listen to your lovely message on International Women’s Day. I have been making cards for over ten years, just as a small hobby. I used to sell many of them when my husband and I went touring in our caravan and meeting up with friends. Sadly my husband passed away two years ago. I still like to make cards for family and friends. I am just completing a few Easter cards and am hoping to sell these on Saturday at our church coffee morning. All proceeds will go to a charity called Gap Kenya. Our church regularly support this charity, which was set up to educate young Kenyan girls. The couple who run this have been amazing and we love to see videos of how well so many of the girls have progressed and many attaining university. I love all your decoupage designs and so nice to receive comments on my completed cards. I wish you well for the future. With very best wishes. God Bless. Xxx
