How to make Mother's Days Hearts
Mother's Day is right around the corner but why not make this year extra special and craft her a gift that really comes from the heart.
Today, Debbie Raybould joins us to take you through one of our favourite Mother's Day craft ideas. This beginner friendly tutorial teaches you exactly how to make these pretty Mother's Day Hearts from scratch.
Why not get the children involved and make beautiful hanging hearts for mum or nan as a heartwarming gift.
Reminder: Mother's Day is Sunday 22nd March, 2020 in the UK & Sunday 10th May, 2020 in the USA.
Don't forget to add the text before you decorate in case you run out of room.
How to make the hearts
Both greyboard and our MDF hearts are ideal for making the heart shapes. Debbie opted for the greyboard due to it's stiffness and chose to cut the heart shapes out herself. This is a fantastic way of getting exactly the shape and size you want. However, if you aren't confident about creating a smooth looking heart or you want to save more time, then the MDF precut hearts are perfect.
Decorating the heart background
Once you have the heart shape then the possibilities are endless as to how you choose to decorate it. In this tutorial, Debbie opted to paint her Mother's Day heart with Sage coloured Acrylic paint. She then went on to distress the edge to create a warmer, antique feel. She then drew on the hand stitching effect by hand with a brown drawing pen.
Add your Letters before decorating
Don't forget to add your mothers day message BEFORE you add your flowers or other decorations as the last thing you want to do is to run out of room before you have the name in place.
