How to Make a Playful Christmas Pop Up Card with Pink Ink's Bauble Bath Stamp Set

Create a colourful Christmas scene with the Pink Ink Designs Bauble Bath DL Stamp Set and our White Pointed Arch Pop Up Cards. Cathie from Pink Ink Designs shows how to stamp and fussy cut the charming mice in their bauble-filled bath, create a vibrant inked background and build everything into a dimensional pop up card. 

Along the way, she also demonstrates how you can adapt the main stamped image to turn a bath for two into a bath for three.

Vibrant splashes of Cosmic Shimmer Water-Based Inks in Turquoise and Plum creates the background, with stamped candles and a sentiment adding extra detail to the finished scene. It’s a fun way to combine stamping, fussy cutting and colourful backgrounds in a dimensional Christmas card that folds flat for posting.

Step 1 – Stamp the Bauble Bath mice
Stamp the main image from the Pink Ink Designs Bauble Bath DL Stamp Set onto Cosmic Shimmer Ready to Stamp White Cardstock using black ink. This fun Christmas design features two mice relaxing together in a bath surrounded by festive baubles. Once stamped, carefully fussy cut around the image ready to add to your pop up card.

Step 2 – Create the colourful background
Pop out the die cut pieces that make up the White Pointed Arch Pop Up Card. The cards are made from sturdy 300gsm white cardstock and include a pointed arch backdrop along with the supporting straps used to create the dimensional structure.

Before assembling the card, spritz the cardstock pieces with water until the surface is damp. Drop Cosmic Shimmer Turquoise Blue Water-Based Ink directly onto the wet cardstock, followed by Plum. Allow the two colours to spread and blend naturally across the surface.

Add a little more water where needed to encourage the inks to move. Remember to colour the supporting straps too so they blend into the finished design. Set all the pieces aside and allow them to dry naturally without moving them around too much as the pigments spread.

Step 3 – Assemble the Pointed Arch Pop Up Card
Once the cardstock is completely dry, choose which side of the inked pieces you would like to have visible. Fold along the pre-scored lines on the supporting straps.

Using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue, attach the outer strap to the sides of the pointed arch. Cathie positions the joins at the back of the arch so they are hidden from view. Add the inner strap to create an additional step for positioning your stamped and fussy-cut elements. The finished structure stands upright to display your Christmas scene

Step 4 – Stamp the candle details
Stamp a couple of the candle designs and the 'Bauble Bath' sentiment from the Bauble Bath Stamp Set onto cardstock. Fussy cut the stamped pieces and use them as additional foreground elements on the pop up card.

Step 5 – Add colour to your stamped elements
Use the same Turquoise and Plum Cosmic Shimmer Water-Based Inks to add colour to the stamped elements. Keeping to the same small colour palette helps the stamped images and inked background work together as one cohesive design.

Step 6 – Build your Christmas scene
Arrange the fussy-cut Bauble Bath mice and embellishments across the different levels of the Pointed Arch Pop Up Card. Use the steps to create depth, with the colourful pointed arch providing the backdrop for your stamped Christmas scene.

Once everything is positioned, secure the elements in place to complete your card. Your finished pop up design can stand upright for display before folding flat again for easy posting.
