Fans of Cosmic Shimmer can celebrate – this beloved crafting brand is here to stay! Katy Sue Designs has officially acquired Cosmic Shimmer and the red rubber stamp manufacturing previously handled by Creative Expressions. With its signature glitters, polishes, micas and colour-rich materials, Cosmic Shimmer has long been a favourite for card makers, mixed media artists and beyond.

A message from Sue,
"I would like to wish Colin, the owner of Creative Expressions and the Cosmic Shimmer brand, all the very best as he retires from the craft industry. My sincere thanks also go to Managing Director Lysanne for all her help over the last few months in bringing this deal together. I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to bring Cosmic Shimmer’s manufacturing home to South Shields. With a 20-year legacy that began with creative founder Lucy Harding and was developed by Colin and his team, this much-loved brand has been a source of inspiration for crafters around the world. Now, it enters a new chapter with Katy Sue Designs where we see huge potential to build on that legacy, develop the range and continue inspiring creativity for years to come. We can’t wait to get started!"

Why did Katy Sue Designs acquire the Cosmic Shimmer brand and red rubber stamp range?

The Cosmic Shimmer brand is much loved in the crafting world, with a 20-year legacy spanning cardmaking, mixed media and art. When we learned that Creative Expressions was planning to close, we stepped in, determined not to lose this incredible made-in-the-UK brand and the manufacturing capability that comes with it.

Will the product ranges change?

We’ve purchased some remaining stock, which will be available on our website soon. In the medium term, we’re reviewing the full Cosmic Shimmer range, speaking with stockists and crafters worldwide. We’re taking their feedback seriously so while we won’t be changing anything that’s working, we will modernise where needed and bring out the brand’s full potential.

Will Cosmic Shimmer products still be made in the UK?

Absolutely. We’ve acquired the equipment to continue manufacturing the product range and are relocating production to South Tyneside, where we already make all of our silicone moulds and paper craft products.

Why is UK manufacturing so important to Katy Sue Designs?

We’re proud to be a British manufacturer. In 2024 we were highly commended in the UK Government’s 'Made in the UK, Sold to the World' awards. We’ve recently invested in a state-of-the-art 5-colour printing press and are always expanding our in-house capabilities.

What does this mean for your design work?

Colour is a key element of creativity, so having Cosmic Shimmer in our portfolio is a natural extension of the creative tools we offer—from paper to clay crafting, and now stamping too. It allows our customers to finish their creative projects with beautiful colour and texture.

Will there be new products?

Yes! Based on your feedback we will develop the Cosmic Shimmer range and our in-house designers will be developing new stamps as well as with well-loved, incredibly talented external designers too. Expect more news very soon!
