Colours of Autumn, Berries and Rosehips - Part 1
Instructions
DownloadEmbrace the vibrant hues of Autumn with this detailed video guide on crafting Rosehips and Berries. Whether you’re enhancing a home decor fall-themed arrangement or adorning a special occasion cake, these techniques will bring a splash of Autumn’s palette to your creations.
Rosehips
Creating the Stamens
Start by wrapping pale lemon thread around the end of the Flexi Scraper 75 times. Thread a 28 gauge green wire through each loop end, twist to secure, and then cut in half. Tape the base with light green tape, trim to 6mm. Attach to a wire and secure with floral tape. Dust with Chocolate and Foliage Green dust
Forming the Calyx
Cut 30 gauge white wires into 18 pieces (you’ll use 15 for this project). Combine a no.7 small ball of cream and pale green paste. Shape into thin sausages with pointed tips, attach to the wires, and mould to create feather-like textures. Bend the wire to form a taco shape, creating some facing up and some down. Tape around the stamens, shaping as you go.
Shaping the Rosehips
For the rosehip, shape a no.9 small ball of red paste into a balloon-like form using the medium cone cavity of the Flower Pro Rose Cones & Thorns Mould. Insert a wire through the centre, securing with glue. After drying, dust with Aubergine and Chocolate for depth, and apply a confectioner’s glaze for a glossy finish.
Berries
Simple Berries
Cover 28 gauge wires with brown floral tape and create small hooks at the ends. Shape burgundy paste into berries, inserting the hooked wires. After drying, draw lines with a food art pen and dust with deep purple for a realistic look. Gather berries into clusters and tape them onto a wire to create a branch effect.
Berries using Moulds
For moulded berries, use 30 gauge wires with open hooks. Mix orange and yellow paste to achieve a tangerine colour, and press into the small yew berry cavity of the Flower Pro Winter Foliage Mould. Insert the wire hooks, flex the mould to release, and allow drying on a foam block. Dust half of each berry with orange, adding red accents, and paint lines at the base with a mixture of brown gel colour and vodka.
Assembly
Assemble berries and rose hips into a natural-looking branch. Tape groups of berries onto the wire, alternating the sizes and adding leaves for a fuller look. Dust with Chocolate brown, steam to set the colours, and finish with a glaze to enhance durability and shine.
By following these detailed instructions, you can create beautiful Autumn themed crafts that capture the essence of the season. Whether you're decorating your home or a rustic Autumnal cake, these Rosehips and Berries will add a touch of Autumnal magic to any setting.
